MUSIC APPRECIATION
taught by Linda Kobler.
MUSIC APPRECIATION is a tour through the world of music and the way it has changed through time. It is taught by Linda Kobler, a pioneer in online music instruction who served on the faculty of The Juilliard School in New York City for 7 years, and is a recording artist, writer, and performer. To learn more about how this course works, visit the Welcome Page. To register, contact your institution first and then email Linda Kobler immediately.
Linda Kobler's web lectures are embedded with over 160 audio and video examples, film and book recommendations, and links to other resources on the Web. The course also features a Bulletin Board, Weekly Chat, and a library of practice quizzes that you can use to test your comprehension of the material. In this course students start by studying the elements of music, to acquire a working vocabulary. They then survey a variety of styles and periods, from Medieval chant to World Music and Rock, spanning the Middle Ages to the present time. No prior musical training is required to take this course.
